About Observ

See your skin like never before - a revolutionary journey beneath the skin surface

The Body Sanctum Beauty Lounge was one of New Zealand’s first beauty salons and skin care clinics to invest in the advanced Observ technology that allows us to see beneath the skin’s surface and curate an in-salon and at-home skincare programme, designed specifically for you.

What the Observ does...

Many skin conditions that surface in time originate from the deeper skin layers and are difficult to determine with the human eye. The Observ exposes those conditions by using a patented skin fluorescence and polarized light illumination technology. Using this unique technology, we can instantly reveal and diagnose skin conditions, show you what we’re seeing and curate a targeted treatment programme.

Why is the Observ great?

The Observ machine takes multiple levels of specific imagery and gives us the power to micro analyse and diagnose skin issues as well as showing you your progress throughout a skincare programme.

As our skin changes slowly over the duration of a skincare programme, we can often miss the little details in the huge progression that’s been made when we check out our reflections on a daily basis.

We store all of your data and images on our iPad system, which is great for us to give you comparison images over time and allows us to track your progress with a visual record.

What we can see better with the Observ?

This fantastic diagnostic tool has five different skin analysis modes including daylight, woods lamp and true UV illumination, enabling us to identify irregularities of structure, skin texture and skin colour.

  • Porphyrin in acne & comedones
  • Free oil flow
  • Plugged pores
  • Areas of keratinized skin
  • Areas with diminished circulation
  • Dehydrated skin
  • Vascular conditions
  • Rosacea
  • Skin irritations
  • Areas of lipid-dry skin
  • Milia from milia like
  • Area with collagen loss
  • Sensitive and thinned skin areas
  • Wrinkle formations
  • Fine skin surface texture
  • Fine line patterns
  • Microrelief

Who can use the Observ?

Successful treatment of any skin condition or imperfection relies on a well-trained and experienced skin practitioner. The Observ gives us a look into the ‘invisible’ layers of skin and shows us what we cannot see with our eyes, however, it doesn’t tell us what we’re seeing which is why we sit down and talk you through your skincare history, what we see and how we plan to help you!

Why LED face mask sessions are your new hero treatment and something you should be doing at home. A prefessional-grade facial at home and total skin rejuvenation in just 10 minutes a day; why this at-home LED face mask should be added to your PM routine and why LED light therapy was the fastest growning trend in 2020 and 2021! Research has proven that LED masks and devices can effectively treat a whole heap of skin concerns, but the results are cumulative, meaning you need to maintain a regular long-term routine and won't see results from a single session with us at the salon. Kind of like working out, you won't see results from one gym session a month! Read on to find out why our therapists believe that investing in your at-home skincare is the game-changer of 2021.
