Benefits of LED Light Therapy

Lexi Boddy • Aug 13, 2021

Why LED face mask sessions are your new hero treatment and something you should be doing at home.

A prefessional-grade facial at home and total skin rejuvenation in just 10 minutes a day; why this at-home LED face mask should be added to your PM routine and why LED light therapy was the fastest growning trend in 2020 and 2021!

Research has proven that LED masks and devices can effectively treat a whole heap of skin concerns, but the results are cumulative, meaning you need to maintain a regular long-term routine and won't see results from a single session with us at the salon. Kind of like working out, you won't see results from one gym session a month!

Read on to find out why our therapists believe that investing in your at-home skincare is the game-changer of 2021.

At-home LED mask - your secret weapon against Ageing. RRP $1,499.00 - Purchase here.

You may already know quite a bit about LED Light Therapy - it's been around for years and we've offered LED Facials at the Beauty Lounge since we opened our doors in 2010, but there has been a real boost in popularity of this treatment recently and here's why...

What and why do we use LED?

  • Skin / wound and scar healing
  • Reduction of age spots and pigmentation
  • Collagen production
  • Anti-ageing
  • Reduction of inflammation
  • Acne flare-ups
  • Zero down-time, no discomfort whatsoever

What is LED?

LED (light emitting diode) therapy was originally developed by NASA to fast track healing in the skin and body for astronauts, and has since trickled down into a high-tech solution for skin improvement. So it's crazy that LED therapy is now available for all of us non-astronauts to use at home with the DP Dermaceuticals LED Face Mask.

How does LED work?

Light therapy works to boost the natural collagen in our skin, combatting fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation and acne, and has been a popular skin treatment for years. This non-invasive technique uses different wavelengths of light which essentially encourage your skin cells to work harder, resulting in a rejuvenated complexion.

Just sit back and let the light do the work! The LED light face mask is completely safe and doesn’t contain any ultraviolet rays.

How to use the
Dp Dermaceuticals LED Mask at home.

  • We recommend cleansing twice to remove all makeup residue and then exfoliate your skin so it's completely clean.
  • Fix the mask with the straps, close your eyes and turn the device on.
  • Use for 10 to 20 minutes while you listen to music, meditate or just have some time out. The optimum usage is around three to four times per week. Within just one session your skin will feel plumper, hydrated and instantly refreshed. The results will build and  improve the more  you use it, so you can look forward to a brighter, more youthful looking complexion within a month of use.

What makes the Dp Dermaceuticals LED Mask better than others?

Unlike most LED devices, Dp Dermaceuticals LED mask uses two proven wavelengths of light, red (633nm) light and near infra-red (830nm) light. Clinical studies have shown these wavelengths stimulate the cells that produce collagen and elastin. This helps rebuild the damage caused by the ageing process and other environmental factors. The mask has a completely smooth inside surface for easy cleaning, and is incredibly easy to use. Simply charge the portable device with a usb plug (as you would your phone), then transport it wherever you like. It’s comfortable and non-claustrophobic, and the lightweight, flexible silicone moulds to every face shape.

Are there any specific skin products I should use when I do my at-home mask treatment?

For optimum results, it’s helpful to cleanse both your skin and the mask with Dp Dermacuticals Cliniprep (after cleansing your face), and for the full clinic experience you can use the Lumafuse Hydrogel Mask or the Hyla Active Serum. These products have both been designed specifically to be used with LED, unlike other products which may block the rays. After your mask session, complete your treatment with the Vitamin Rich Repair serum, an active and nourishing solution to fast-track your ant-ageing results.

Is IPL Hair Removal right for me?
By Lexi Boddy 27 May, 2021
So, why is Winter perfect for your IPL treatments? It’s important to avoid as much sun exposure as possible, so Winter is the best time to get your IPL sessions started as ideally your skin needs to be free of any tan. Our Anthelia IPL machine is able to work on darker skin tones and lighter hair colours, but the treatment is most effective when the skin is at its fairest - in Winter! It’s strongly suggested that the treatment area stay out of the sun afterwards as well, so the perk of winter is that we have none! IPL works by using high-intensity pulses of visible light to improve the appearance of the skin, treat specific skin concerns and remove hair. It targets the lower layers of skin (dermis) without affecting the top layers of skin (epidermis). This provides a non-invasive treatment that is the perfect choice for treating all forms of sun damage, pigmentation, broken capillaries, ageing skin concerns and, of course, for your hair removal needs. IPL targets the colour/melanin in the skin, so it just makes it easier for the light to target the hair follicles if the surrounding skin colour is easily distinguishable from the hair. No tan = better results. For the average client, we expect to see results between 6-8 sessions on IPL which is followed by maintenance sessions every 6 - 12 months or so. It’s always best to get started in the Winter, so book in for your consultation now and take advantage of our 25% discount on bundles of 4 treatments.
