Dermapen Treatments for stretch marks

Stretch marks, clinically known as striae, are a type of scar that occurs when rapid tearing of the dermis stretches collagen fibres. This condition can affect all skin types, conditions and colours, and both sexes. Stretch marks may appear as red or purple lines that fade to a white / silver colour. As stretch marks are a condition of the dermis.

How it works...

Many Practitioners and Patients have claimed that Dermapen Treatments have been far more effective for the treatment of Stretch Marks than other traditional methods (ie; Laser or superficial creams). The Dermapen process encourages the production and distribution of new collagen that will progressively remodel the stretch mark scar whilst greatly reducing its appearance.

  • IPL FAQ's

Real questions clients ask and honest answers to them

  • What is IPL?

-IPL stand for Intense pulsed light. It’s a technology used by cosmetic and medical practitioners to perform various skin treatments. It creates a broad spectrum of light which pulses through your skin in three waves releasing energy as it penetrates through.

  • What is difference between IPL and LASER?

    - The term "LASER" originated as an acronym for "Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation". A laser is a device that emits light through a process of optical amplification. Laser creates a narrow beam of light that is specifically programmed to release all its energy at a certain depth in the skin where IPL releases a wave of light to three depths in the skin covering a wider area for to cauterise hair follicles.

  • Does IPL hurt?

-IPL machines can cause heat and a sharp quick stinging feeling when cauterising hair. The EFB Anthelia machine has an amazing handpiece called the Rafale handpiece however which is quite painless. It feels like a warm stone being glided up and down the area of skin treated.

  • How much does it cost?

-IPL costs vary sometimes between clinics. This can be for a variety of reasons. We normally give the client a price while we do our mandatory consultation as the therapist will need to see the full area and judge how many shots it will take. Please feel free to call or email the salon to get a rough estimate though.

We do incredible Winter Specials too so join up to our newsletter through the website www.beautyloungequeenstown.co.nz

  • Why choose the Beauty Lounge for your IPL treatments?

-At Body Sanctum Beauty Lounge all of our therapists are highly qualified and experienced therapists. Our machine has world leading technology and is the only machine in Queenstown to successfully treat White, Blonde and Red hair as most IPL or LASERs can only treat dark hair. The Anthelia also has another huge benefit of being able to SAFELY treat darker skin types as we understand lots of clients have been turned away before as their skin might be too dark to treat with IPL or LASER.

Apart from all the above reasons we have the most competitive prices in Queenstown and this year (2019) we are running an AMAZING OFFER.

Email the salon at beautylounge@bodysanctum.co.nz to hear more about these offers or check out our website www.beautyloungequeenstown.co.nz

  • Can I wax in between sessions?

-For any hair removal treatments you cannot wax in between treatments. This also goes for tweezing, threading and sugaring. Any hair removal that removes the hair from the root is discouraged as it will reopen the blood capillary that IPL cauterises during treatment.

  • What’s the downtime after treatment? Can I go back to work?

-Yes you can go about your daily routine straight after treatment. If the area is exposed to the sun we will apply sunblock and any other area’s medisoothe is applied to help remove the excess heat from the skin to get you back to normal as quick as possible.

  • How many treatments will be necessary if I do a full course?

-Everyone is slightly different and depending on your hair growth cycle and at what stage of hair growth we start treatments on will determine the amount of treatments. A complete course for a light skin dark haired person will be 4-8 treatments generally.

  • How often will my treatments be?

-Most areas of the body have a different hair growth cycle time frame. When you commence your treatments the time between the first and second will vary between 3-5 weeks. However, after this most clients and treated on a completely bespoke plan. Our therapists will advise with our clients help on a perfect time to have the next treatment as it all depends on hair regrowth. There is absolutely no benefit to have a client come in every month for a treatment for a year. If this is the case, I would recommend to ask why the area will need 12 treatments spaced out monthly. As the hair growth slows with treatments the regrowth will not have grown back fully within this time and the client will not receive a worthwhile result.

  • What results can I expect?

-Most clients when treating dark hair on lighter skin can receive results of up to 95% hair reduction. Results can vary slightly from client to client. Lots of factors can play a role on how successful your treatments will be. Is the area of hair growth affected by a hormonal imbalance? Have you strictly followed protocols and time frames for your treatments? Every single client will have hair reduction when using Body Sanctum’s Anthelia IPL but at the time of consultation it’s impossible for your therapist to determine just how much of a reduction that will be.

  • Can I just get a maintenance treatment done as I’ve had my course of treatments somewhere else?

-Yes of course you can have your maintenance treatment with us. Ideally if you can get access to your treatment file and settings used it would be great but we will complete a new consultation form anyway as we do with every client we see. From this consultation and area assessment we will advise on a maintenance price and continue treatments as needed
